  1. Conduct and complete an observation of a child (0-5 years). Critically evaluate the child’s level of learning and development. Consider the Characteristics of Effective Learning (CoEL). (approx. 250 words)
  2. Using statutory and non-statutory documentation, identify the next steps in a child’s learning. With reference to the planning cycle, suggest activities/resources that might promote and support the identified areas for development in line with Early Years Principles. (approx. 750 words)
  3. Identify and critically appraise current research that underpins Early Years’ provision with particular reference to the: Study of Early Education and Development (SEED) Research Report (2017) and its impact on shaping Early Years Foundation Stage practice. (approx. 500 words)
  4. Examine the roles and responsibilities of the practitioner to support children’s learning including their work with parents/carers and other professionals. Evaluate the adult’s role in demonstrating good practice when supporting children through the Transition process from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage One of the National Curriculum (approx. 500 words)

Students will provide an in-depth appraisal of the relevant statutory and non-statutory documentation that underpins early years practice demonstrating excellent critical reasoning skills.
