This assignment is a report based on an aspect of your service provision that you believe can be improved. You should include the leadership and management issues relevant to the issue and identify how they can be addressed. Your problem or opportunity should make use of relevant policies, legislation and research to underpin it and to highlight that is it not just an improvement needed in your opinion.

Description of organisation:
Large teaching hospital providing medical and surgical care for adult patients. The organisation has a good track record of research and education to support clinical practise.
The ward participated in a recruitment drive and successfully filled all B6-ward leaders to outstanding vacant post.
Improvement: Supporting the transition from staff nurse(B5) to ward leader(B6). Focusing on the readiness by developing a ward leadership programme to support the successful transition.
Nurses moving from direct care to leadership are often left to practise with trial and error. This can be challenging and leave the nurse to struggle without foundational leadership knowledge and skill.
The report will discuss and analyse literature, guidelines, role and responsibilities, leadership and management, theories, change management and change theory models.
