Mentoring from the Mentee Perspective
Drawing upon the mentoring models presented in Nolte, Bruce, and Becker’s 2014 article, “Building a Community of Researchers Using the Research Mentoring Model,” and Schunk and Mullen’s 2013 article, “Toward a Conceptual Model of Mentoring Research,” describe mentoring strategies that one would expect to be effective and would like to experience with a dissertation mentor.
1. Consider what kinds of strategies and qualities of the relationship will help move one through the liminal stage of an identity as an emerging researcher, as the development of a personalized tool that one can use for reflection along a dissertation journey.
2. Articulate the role in the mentor-mentee relationship as one works through the dissertation Milestone process.
